Angela
Lacalamita

Preferred Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Angela Lacalamita MA, LCPC, NCC is the founder of The Journey to Wellness and Balance Counseling Services, Ltd., a group practice offering comprehensive counseling services. Angela received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology (Argosy University) in Schaumburg, Illinois. Angela is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors and Corporate Trainer/Educator. She has been successfully working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples and families for 10 years. Her clinical experience includes working in residential treatment, community mental health and private practice providing counseling and supervision. In addition, she presents corporate training on a variety of topics including: parenting, stress management, anger management and wellness.

Angela specializes in addressing a variety of areas including: couples/marital counseling, LGBT counseling, mood and anxiety disorders, parenting, behavioral struggles and workplace issues. Her integrative approach to counseling utilizes various treatment approaches including: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Family Systems, Solution-Focused and Psychodynamic.

Angela strives to create a safe, accepting and supportive environment where clients can openly explore their thoughts, feelings and begin the process of personal growth. Her use of encouragement and acceptance, in conjunction with her ability to validate her clients concerns, promotes hope and facilitates clients in identifying their strengths and achieving their potential.

Laura Piuca-
Hinkes
Preferred Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

 

Laura Piuca - Hinkes MSW, LCSW  received her Master’s in Social Work from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in outpatient settings. Her areas of interest are in working with trauma, depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, parenting, self-esteem, eating disorders and grief and loss.

Laura's primary goal with clients is to establish a safe and nurturing therapeutic relationship. She looks to uncover client's strengths and empowers them to develop new patterns of coping. Her treatment style is a collaborative process as she tailors the counseling to meet each person's specific treatment goals. Laura uses a variety of treatment approaches including: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialetical Behavior Therapy, Family Systems, Solution-Focused and Psychodynamic. Laura is also skilled in play therapy techniques to assist the younger, less verbal child.

Daniel MacLennan
Preferred Pronouns: He/Him/His

 

Daniel MacLennan, LPC  is a Licensed ProfessionalCounselor who has counseled children, adolescents, and adults in community and outpatient settings. Daniel graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from Florida State University. He then went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Iowa.

 

Daniel provides counseling for children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of areas. His areas of interest are in working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-informed care as well as existential and spiritual concerns.

Daniel recognizes each client is a unique individual possessing their own strengths.

His client-centered approach to counseling allows clients to thrive and prosper so as to become the best version of themselves despite the difficult moments that life sometimes brings. He incorporates an integrative counseling model, including
cognitive-behavioral therapy and play therapy to name a few.

Daniel assists clients in identifying their overall thought processes and changing their negative thinking patterns/beliefs into more positive and adaptive thoughts and behaviors which will create the change the client desires to achieve.
